Parent Visa
The Parent Visa allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia permanently. This visa is ideal for families who wish to reunite and enjoy the benefits of living together in Australia. There are different types of parent visas, including contributory and non-contributory options, each with varying costs and processing times.
Applicants must meet the Balance of Family Test, meaning at least half of their children must be Australian residents or more of their children must live in Australia than in any other country. Some Parent Visas also require financial sponsorship from the child or an eligible sponsor.
Once granted, a Parent Visa allows the holder to live, work, and study in Australia indefinitely, access Medicare, and apply for Australian citizenship after meeting residency requirements.
What are the types of Parent Visas available?
Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143 & 173) – Faster processing but higher costs.
Non-Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 103) – Lower cost but longer processing times (up to 30 years).
